Don't be deceived by this epic looking poster...if anything, this film is epicly bad.

I love watching movies. I love watching genuinely good movies, but I also love watching really, really bad movies. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Ever sat through a movie...and it just kept getting worse? Movies that were unintentionally funny. Or ones where it was clear that the actors had all memorized their lines an hour before shooting. Or those awful indie-produced period movies where you can see a Mac computer in the background. Here is a list of some of my favorite "so bad it's good" movies:

1. The da Vinci Code

Yup, as much as I love Tom Hanks, this was just a bad movie. I enjoyed the book; it was a fast, interesting read...but the movie...where do I start? I mean, in every scene, Tom Hanks looked embarrassed to be there and it seemed like he was reading off of cue cards. Which was hilarious in a movie that was supposed to be all serious and dramatic.

2. Bad Reputation

Even though this is an indie movie with low funding...there's just no excuse for this mess. The story is about a shy girl who gets invited to a party by a popular guy. They spike her drink and she is taken advantage of by three guys at the party. She decides to use her new "bad reputation" to get revenge. The plot was somewhat interesting, but the actors in it were either extremely amateur or they just all took this as a joke. Perhaps the director was trying to go for a campy/funny/horror style?? It is all very unclear. Not only does it look like a high school production, but the story goes nowhere and I'm pretty sure they used ketchup for blood.

3. The Wicker Man (the re-make)

Nicolas Cage. Need I say more? The man really should not be acting. He manages to consistently turn every serious scene into unintentional comedy.

This is all you need to see of the Wicker Man remake:

4. A Viking Sage: Son of Thor

I was sent this dvd to review for a site...and I wish I had never seen it. I love epic dramas, and A Viking Saga...doesn't get any more epic than that title. Unfortunately, what you should expect if you plan on watching this mess is a lot of amateur settings (I mean...the swords looked plastic!!), and a lot of hilariously bad acting. I believe, in a danish interview, several of the main actors claimed that this was just a paying gig for them and that they didn't take it seriously at all. Oh, and if you can get a hold of the original trailer...please do watch. The voice-over is hilariously dramatic: "A VIKING SAGA" *pause for dramatic music* "SON OF THORRRRRRRRR"

I would also include Im Not there. I cant seem to truly care about this film. Also the infamous as Plan 9 from outer space.

Michael24: thanks for commenting! I've actually been meaning to see I'm Not There; it looks interesting. Plan 9 From Outer Space looks deliciously bad; I will have to check that out for sure. Plus, I love Bela Lugosi, so it should be fun!
